During WW2 a radar site was established inside the Verne Citadel on Portland. The most obvious was a Type 54 on a 200' tower.

Mention is also made in various sources of another, CHL, site at Westcliffe in addition to the Verne. This location was re-used in Rotor days, probably as the R/T tx and rx site. This picture shows the Type 54 that was re-located to the Rotor site peeping over the top of the Verne and the 2 masts at the Westcliff Site.

After Rotor the Westcliff site was used by the Navy for air to ground comms, serving the Naval heliport.

What I do not have is any details of the Westcliff site pre-Rotor as a CHL site in its own right.

There are a few remains on the ground at Westcliff showing bases for at least 3 masts, all of the buildings have been demolished.

Can anyone help with any more info on the Westcliff site or any pictures of the Rotor site during its operational days?
